Members of the board of LGBC paid a visit to the president of the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut, Eng. Aref Yassine, *on Thursday 28 October 2021*, to coordinate the road map towards a successful implementation of green policies in the built environment.
LGBC President, Eng. Pierre Dammous, asked the OEA president to activate the channels that would enforce or encourage sustainability and energy saving measures in the new permits. Also, LGBC board explained to the OEA president, the newly updated sustainability rating system ARZ (2 version) which is being developed by LGBC and will be launched very soon and insisted on the necessity of implementing it in the OEA Beirut building as a role model for other projects.
Pierre Dammous proposed to the president A. Yassine, the creation of a committee to be managed by OEA , to implement the ARZ-2 within the « Permit » procedure, which will allow for each constructed building to have a Rating of points number( without implementing any obligatory Label, such as Silver , Gold… or others,) at least for the beginning, using the permit will add awareness of the sustainability and green culture to be divulgated and also it will help owners and end users to evaluate the building advanced quality they are using.
Then the same monitoring technical team within the OEA WILL BE TRAINED to learn about the implementation and usage of ARZ.
President Yassine approved eagerly the idea and asked for a workshop joining the interested and workforce within members and representative to prepare a Road Map for the application of the innovative ideas to be enforced with his power to be implemented.
Two weeks were adopted to let LGBC prepare the necessary steps and ways for the success of the workshop, OEA President was very satisfied from the whole approach LGBC WAS PROPOSING,
