Sustainability Week event
between May 31 and June 3rd, 2011
Project Lebanon 2011 took place at Biel between 31st of May and 3rd of June.
LGBC shared a stand with ASHRAE and LSES in the Green Hall, while IFC participated in a separate stand in the same hall with LGBC for the launching of ARZ Building Rating System for the Existing Commercial buildings.
In parallel with the exhibition activities, IFP and OEA the Order of Engineers and Architects, in collaboration with LCEC and NGO’s like LGBC,LSES and ASHRAE, organized the 3rd edition of Lebanon Sustainability Week from June 1st to 3rd .
During the afternoon session of Day 1
”Developing Green Buildings: Operation, Certification & Return on investment”, moderated by Mr. Rabih Khairallah President of OEA Mechanical branch ,LGBC President Dr. Samir Traboulsi presented the vision and mission of LGBC and current projects and activities.
During the morning session of Day 2
The LGBC Vice President Mr. Walid El Baba was the moderator for the session “Middle East Renewable Energy Market”.
The entire afternoon of the third day was dedicated to the launching of LGBC Commercial Existing Building rating “ARZ” as developed by LGBC in partnership with IFC, as being the first made-in-Lebanon green building rating system created to rate the Environmental performance of Existing Commercial Buildings in Lebanon. The moderator was Architect Aram Yeretzian founding Member of LGBC & board member. The guest speaker was Dr. Sadek Owainati, Chairman of World Green Building Council MENA Network. After Dr. Samir Traboulsi presented the ARZ, a panel discussion with some pilot Building owners took place.
Following the panel discussion, a ceremony was dedicated to the distribution of the 8 ARZ Assessors certificates who fulfilled ARZ system criteria and successfully completed the related technical exams.

In parallel 3 Awards were presented to Dr. S. Owainati, OEA President Mr. Elie Bsaibes, and former OEA President Dr. Bilal Alayli (received by the President of OEA Mechanical branch Mr. R. Khairallah in the absence of Dr. Alayli).
