CEDRO IV and LGBC collaborate on the design, development and delivery of a 5-day workshop for the Lebanese Armed Forces
The United Nations Development Programme, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Water, initiated the fourth phase of the CEDRO Programme (CEDRO 4) funded by the European Union. CEDRO 4 aims to continue the on-going assistance provided by the UNDP to the Government of Lebanon to develop and implement a national sustainable energy strategy and action plans to mitigate climate change, in line with the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for Lebanon (2010 – 2014), and in line with the Millennium Development Goal 7 (MDG 7) of achieving environmental sustainability..
As part of its capacity building activity, CEDRO designed a workshop targeting the engineering, architecture and procurement departments of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF). The workshop was designed to provide the appropriate background for the improvement of engineering and architectural practices and the work processes to ensure more sustainable use of resources and improve practices within the LAF facilities.
LGBC was selected to develop and deliver the 5-day workshop for the Lebanese armed forces.
The workshop set to start on November 12th 2015 at the Lebanese Armed Forces Directorate of Engineering department in Kfarshima will cover topics including but not limited to passive architecture, energy efficiency and renewable energy, water conservation, and green procurement.
The workshop will provide the trainees with an introduction of the topics, the processes applicable to each discipline and will conclude with best practice examples from Lebanon and the region, along with guideline documentation(s) on the various topics that can be used by the army post-workshop.
